ADDRESS FOR SUCCESS
San Francisco--Forget your IQ. Mind your E's and Q's. Nothing contributes to stardom and success like persistence, self-discipline, empathy and awareness. In other words emotional intelligence, according to Daniel Goleman, author of the mega bestseller Emotional Intelligence.
Goleman returns to his native California Friday, March 9 to tell Bay area parents how to raise their child's emotional IQ because the other IQ, he says, contributes only 20% to life success. More critical behavior forces like motivation, impulse control, mood regulation, hope and persistence, which are all components of emotional intelligence, need to be nurtured.
Using research from his later book, Working with Emotional Intelligence, Goleman will also demonstrate why emotional intelligence matters for adults at the office.
Goleman is a founder of Boston's Emotional Intelligence Service and was for many years the acclaimed behavioral science reporter for The New York Times. He has been a visiting faculty psychologist at Harvard University where he earned his PhD.
Daniel Goleman will speak at the First Unitarian Church, 1187 Franklin (at Geary) in San Francisco at 7:00 PM as part of a lecture series to benefit Spirit Rock Meditation Center's Family Program. Spirit Rock is located in Woodacre.
